What happens when a bag doesn’t hide its materials, but shows them off?
This bag started as the graduation project of designer Sude, with Studio Macnas as her client. Her design question was: how can an expressive bag enhance the perception of innovative materials through form, structure and interaction?
The answer is a geometric bag with real presence. The black panels are made from Mirum, a material by Natural Fiber Welding that the producer describes as plant-based and plastic-free. The translucent brown panel is Pure Malai, a material based on bacterial cellulose grown on coconut water. Its layered surface gives every piece its own texture.
The handle is 3D-printed and wave-shaped, with openings that invite you to hold it. The construction is deliberately visible. Red paracord knots connect the handle to the bag and finish in loose cord ends. Why hide what makes something beautiful?
The result is a bag with individuality and presence. It shows what it’s made of, and that makes people curious.
